Opera at St. Mark’s Church – The Italian Opera Experience. Our operas and concerts have been delighting Florentines and visitors to the region for many years – and we are now proud to celebrate our 18th season. Over the years, our performances have been critically acclaimed by The Washington Post and The Guardian, as well as by the many thousands of people who have enjoyed our concerts and operas. In the beautiful and intimate setting of St. Mark’s Church, the audience sits only a few metres away from the performers, creating a unique atmosphere in which you can experience every emotion and every dramatic moment at close range. You will be enthralled by the powerful stories, beautiful music and passionate performances unfolding before you. Our performances are complete operas, apart from one or two slight adaptations made to suit the intimate setting of the church. This allows us to preserve the essence and drama of each masterpiece while offering an experience that is particularly personal and engaging. With drinks available to purchase during the interval, an English introduction to the opera at the beginning of the performance, and programme notes available in Italian, English, French and German, everything is prepared for a wonderful and memorable Night at the Opera in Florence.
